VIERKLANG | MFH, 40 apartments

A development with around 40 apartments is being built in the south of Buchs.

The site is part of the Schläpli special use plan. In a workshop process with the building commission of the town of Buchs, an urban ensemble with different residential typologies was developed.

The plot is surrounded by detached houses to the south and west and forms the transition between four-storey residential buildings and the smaller-scale neighborhood.
The buildings are slightly offset from each other in order to break up the lengths of the façades and maintain the scale of the surroundings.

The timber façade is divided into horizontal bands. A circumferential parapet element at a height of 70 cm allows the residents a clear view to the outside and at the same time offers protection from unwanted views.

In collaboration with the architects of the neighboring plot, the underground car park access was merged and the underground car parks were connected underground. This creates valuable synergies and the neighborhood square in the east of the property can be designed to be completely car-free.

Cross-plot cooperation is also being sought in open space design. Joint commissioning of landscape planning opens up further potential for an integrated, sustainable neighborhood.

Regional added value - living sustainability

Only nine kilometers separate the building site from the Schöb AG carpentry factory in Gams. This means: minimum transportation routes, maximum regional added value - and sustainability in practice.

Schöb AG's timber constructions are made exclusively from wood from Swiss and Liechtenstein forests. The sawmill that supplies the raw material and has been supplying Schöb AG for generations is literally just a stone's throw away. Glulam production is integrated directly into the production process at the headquarters in Gams - here too without long distances.

Valley Architekten AG and Schöb AG are jointly committed to regional value creation - from the timber construction to the flooring.
Our goal: 100% sustainability in architecture, execution and choice of materials.

With this integral and innovative approach, we want to impress - and make a real contribution to sustainable building culture.
